What to Expect
Before we get started, I will provide an assessment to find out more detail about your needs, and concerns. You will wear soft movable clothing, or undress to your level of comfort, depending on the kind of work we will be doing in session. When undressed, before I reenter the room you will be fully covered with a sheet that will be provided. Only individual parts of the body will be undraped to work specific areas, then re-draped when finished. You will lie down on the comfortable massage table, feeling safe, and empowered by the information you've received, and knowledgeable about the plan of action we will take during your session. The parts of your body that may be touched include the head, neck, face, chest, stomach, hands, back, gluteal region, legs and feet. please do keep in communication with me about areas of the body you may need focused work; as well as, any request to not be touched in various areas at all. This experience is about you, your body, and your healing, so it is important that you communicate any discomfort or needs that may arise in session. Some clients may experience an emotional release during or after receiving bodywork. This is not uncommon and is acceptable. I am here to support you, and maintain a safe positive space during your session. When the session is over, you will redress and we will do a reassessment to monitor your progress from the days session. I will also offer helpful information to assist you with self care, and general wellness.
Health Conditions
In an effort to maintain a healthy environment, I ask that if you are sick (which includes a cold, a fever, the flu, etc.) or have the onset of symptoms of an illness that you reschedule your appointment. If you arrive to your appointment with symptoms of an illness, you will be asked to reschedule your appointment, as in some cases bodywork can accelerate the onset of the infection and intensify its severity (via additional circulation of blood & lymph). This is for your well-being, as well as my own and my other clients.
Also, if you are experincing any discomforts with your body including pre-exiting trauma,, injuries, or ANY skin infections or concerns (athletes foot, rashes, blistering skin, sensitivity to oils or lotion), please let me know before the start of your session.
***If you do need to cancel your appointment, please call/email as soon as possible and I will be happy to reschedule your appointment for a time when you are feeling better.
I am not a doctor and can not make a diagnosis. I will share what I notice about your body, such as places where I feel tension, but I am not a substitute for a medical practitioner should you need one. Also, please note that certain conditions are contraindicated to massage, so if you do have a medical condition it is your responsibility to let me know before the session. If your condition is serious, please ask your doctor if it is okay for you to receive bodywork.
